What most people want to know:

You can easily apply for our IPS student insurance through our Online Application Form.

If you want to extend your insurance, quickly do this via your Online Portal.

Want to cancel your insurance? Click here to send us an email and we will cancel your policy for you. Make sure to fill out all the requested details in the email.

Getting a refund for your (medical) costs can easily be done via your Online Portal. You can find detailed instructions on how to claim on the page Report a Claim.

When you’re registered in the Netherlands, it can happen that you’ll receive an automatically generated letter from the CAK. In this letter they’ll state that you need to apply for the Dutch Basic Health Insurance at a Dutch Health Insurance company and that if you don’t you’ll receive a fine.

What do I have to do now?
Check out this page at the Dutch Sociale Verzekeringsbank (SVB) to find out more about the letter you have received, and to see if you need Dutch Basic health insurance. In most cases you’re not obligated to apply for the Dutch Basic Health Insurance at all. If you’re not obligated to apply for the Dutch Basic Health Insurance, please follow the instructions on the page of the SVB to inform them about this.

Sociale Verzekeringsbank (SVB) Check 
The SVB will do a final check on your situation. They will determine whether you need to apply for the Dutch Basic Health Insurance or not. They will give you the result of the test within a few weeks.

If SVB determines you do not need the Dutch Basic Health Insurance
In this case you don’t need to do anything. The SVB will contact CAK / Zorginstituut Nederland and tell them you don’t have to apply for the insurance. You’ll receive a confirmation of this from the CAK / Zorginstituut Nederland. (If you don’t received a confirmation within a few weeks, then contact Zorginstituut Nederland just to make sure they received the results from the SVB!)

If SVB determines you do need the Dutch Basic Health Insurance
If the SVB decides that you have to apply for the insurance, then you must make sure that you do this as soon as possible. You can apply for a Dutch Basic Health Insurance here. When the application is finished, the health insurance company will notify CAK/SVB of your insurance.
